THE FUTURE IS IN THE EAR
We only want the best. For you and for your herd. Our unique cow monitoring service measures ear temperature combined with behaviour. Giving you actionable insights about the health, fertility, transition and nutrition of your herd, so you know exactly which cows to focus on – and why.
The System
Ear Sensors
Cow ears are full of data. Crucial information that tells you how they are doing. Our ear sensors monitor feeding, rumination, (in)activity, and ear temperature of your cows. The Ear Sensor delivers accurate, real-time insights into fertility, health, transition and nutrition through continuous monitoring. Easy to install with no batteries or collars required, it ensures reliable performance with a secure attachment. Reusable by design, sensors can be quickly transferred between cows, enabling efficient herd management with minimal effort and maximum data continuity.
Routers, Solar and Mains Powered
CowManager is a complete plug-and-play system with seamless data transmission via solar-powered routers across barns, feedlots, and pastures. A central device ensures reliable data flow to your platform, delivering highly accurate insights. With up to 14 days of internal storage and continuous connectivity, it provides a clear, comprehensive overview of herd health and performance. To ensure 24/7 real-time data during grazing, a solar router can be placed in the field, enabling continuous monitoring of your cows.
Mobile App & Desktop Application
Access your data anytime, anywhere via desktop and the mobile app with real-time alerts and 24/7 monitoring. The desktop platform unlocks advanced analysis and deeper insights, offering powerful tools to evaluate herd performance and make more informed, data-driven decisions
The Modules
Fertility
The Fertility Module goes beyond heat detection, identifying heat intensity, peak heats, pregnancies, and potential issues 24/7. Real-time alerts and clear data insights show exactly when to breed, including optimal insemination timing for both sexed and conventional semen. By combining behavior monitoring with precision and automation, it improves pregnancy rates and streamlines reproduction management.
Health
The Health Module delivers early detection of diseases like mastitis, ketosis, and lameness by monitoring behavior and ear temperature 24/7. Real-time alerts highlight changes in eating, rumination, and activity, enabling fast intervention. Clear data insights and recovery tracking help improve treatment decisions, reduce sick cows, and optimize herd performance, keeping cows healthier, more productive, and in better condition.
Transition & Nutrition
The Transition Monitor identifies at-risk cows up to 50 days before dry-off or calving, enabling proactive intervention and reducing post-calving diseases. By tracking temperature, eating and rumination, it detects early signs of issues like ketosis and milk fever. Clear insights at cow and group level support better transition management, helping prevent health problems and ensuring a smoother, more productive start to lactation. The Nutrition Monitor strengthens herd health by optimizing feed management through group-level insights. Track eating and rumination patterns, detect drops in intake, and compare groups over time to evaluate ration changes. Real-time alerts for low feed intake, heat stress, group health, compare groups and intake deviations enable timely adjustments, helping control feed costs, maintain milk production, and improve overall herd performance.

Testimonials

Padraic Greenan
"CowManager has been monitoring our herd for the past 18 months and it’s been a real labour-saving investment. The heat detection has meant we have eliminated the vasectomised bull from the farm which is great from a safety standpoint. The health detection picks up off-form cows generally 12 hours before we can see any visible signs of sickness. Should any intervention be required, it is great to know that the treatment is working through the health and rumination graphs – really, your always ahead of your cow! It has been a great peace of mind to have another set of eyes on your herd 24/7.

Paddy Larkin
"We installed CowManager 4 years ago to ease labour during the busy breeding season. Before that, we relied on tail painting and vasectomized bulls. Now, with minimal maintenance and a smooth setup thanks to the team, everything we need is at our fingertips— cow data is easily read on our phones or computer. We’re no longer missing heats, pregnancy rates have improved, fertility has improved, and yields have increased as a result of CowManager. It even flags sick cows before we notice them, saving on antibiotic usage & overall vet bills. The nutrition module helps monitor intakes and allows us to adjust diets accordingly, particularly in the important dry cow period, which has cut down transition cow issues and boosted overall productivity in the milking herd."

Simon Butler
‘CowManager has allowed us monitor our cows 24/7 while out grazing. Running a robotic system with ABC grazing in place, we don’t see the cows as much. CowManager allows us to detect heat and health alerts continuously. We can intervene with less invasive, non-withdrawal antibiotics.’

John Rowe
'We wanted a monitoring system that would work on a grass-based system and be both reliable and accurate and that’s what we got with CowManager. When it comes to such a big investment on the farm we sit down as a family, and we look at it as a whole. If it can save you time, save you money and make you money, you have to invest in it – CowManager does all three. That’s how good the system is, it is lifechanging'

Brian Galvin
'Before we put in CowManager we were doing our heat detection with tail paint or teaser bulls. They show you the cows in heat, but they don't tell you what exact time frame to AI that cow. Obviously, the sexed semen is more of an expensive straw. You need to be getting into that window properly to have full effectiveness of that AI straw. CowManager really hit the nail on the head for us, It's unbelievable how accurate it is.'

Raymond Goggin
‘CowManager has helped my herd’s fertility by giving me accurate heat alerts. I have been able to improve the timing of AI this past spring, and this has been a major factor in improving my conception to first service, which is at 78%. The herd has a 94% pregancy rate after a breeding season of 8 weeks of 100% AI. Fertility has always been a priority on my farm, and CowManager has helped me fine tune my system’

Barry O'Mahony
‘We initially wanted a system that would allow us monitor our heifers on an out farm, but when we started researching our options, we saw the benefits CowManager could bring to our herd as a whole. We found that CowManager was unique in the marketplace. Its rumination, eating, activity, resting and temperature monitoring mean that it is in a league of its own. Managing fresh cow’s health in a block calving system can be difficult, but CowManager makes it easy.’

Michael McCormack
‘We installed CowManager in February 2018 and haven’t looked back since. The installation was very straightforward, the lads came and tagged all the cows, and set up all the antennae. It’s brilliant the way the whole system is wireless, so there was no laying cables or tearing up concrete in the yard. We chose CowManager because we liked the fact that it’s an ear tag system. It’s very easy to swap a tag from a cull cow to a new heifer coming into the herd. It’s like having another person in the yard with the cows constantly.’

Winston Bennett
‘I installed CowManager because we were missing too many heats with visual heat detection, particularly when cows were indoors during the winter. We were also using stock bulls for breeding replacements and I wanted to eliminate them to make the farm safer. Since installing CowManager we have come to rely on it 100%. The major benefit of CowManager for us is that it takes the guess work out of breeding our cows. CowManager tells us the exact optimum time to AI, which is very useful.’

Philip & Michael Britton
‘CowManager has allowed us to have better control of the fertility in our herd by detecting silent heats and enabling us to inseminate cows at the optimal time. The Fertility insights reports are great for flagging problem cows before the breeding season begins.’
