What is WMS?

The World's Largest and Most Successful Mating Programme

The WMS program has been the trusted choice for thousands of farmers around the world for more than 20 years. More than 9.5 million cows in 60 countries were mated through WMS in 2019 alone and the system continues to evolve to meet the needs of the modern dairy producer.

WMS provides a genetic blueprint for the herd that helps you achieve your herd goals.

Improve Profitability: Increase the lifetime volume and value of milk produced with emphasis on economically important traits that are scientifically linked to longevity.

Manage Risk: Manage one of the largest “hidden” costs on the dairy, inbreeding, with up to 10 generations of pedigree analysis. With the discovery of new genetic haplotypes and recessives, the ability of the WMS system to avoid carrier matings is critical to animal health and farm profitability.

Maximize Your Genetic Investment: Customized indexes and sire selection tools tailored to the farmer identify the bulls best suited for the herd, and ensure the semen is used to maximize genetic progress.

Embrace Technology: The ability to use female genomic data in the mating process and rank the herd on these evaluations allows producers to embrace new commercial technologies and incorporate them into the breeding program.

Make the Best Use of Your Time: Genetic information changes rapidly, making it difficult to remain up to date on proof data and pedigrees. Experienced WMS consultants are committed to developing an accurate genetic plan for your dairy, so you can focus on other aspects of your business.

HERDMAXX

The HerdMaxx option of WMS allows mating decisions to be made using pedigree focused technology. HerdMaxx enhances the mating process for commercial herds focused on limiting inbreeding and recessive traits.

Testimonies

Brian Galvin

West Cork (90 Cows)

‘We started using World Wide Sires because I liked the functional type of the bulls along with the kilos of solids they provided. We use WMS as a tool to help us match bulls to cows. It is a no brainer for us to use WMS because an evaluator comes and looks at the cows, and shows us where we need to improve. Since starting to use WMS we are seeing that our heifers are producing more kilos of solids at a younger age. The first group of WMS bred daughters produced 595KG milk solids in their first lactation.

Mel Martin

Co Kildare (100 Cows)

‘The first crop of heifers by WWS bulls have calved in this spring, and I am delighted with them. The bulls I used have done exactly what they said they would. I now have milky cows with tidy udders, that go back in calf’ said Mel, ‘I started using WMS in 2015, and I really like the fact that it has the personal touch. The evaluators come and look at my cows, and the bulls are chosen in line with my breeding goals based on what each cow needs’

'ITS JUST SO GOOD AT WHAT IT DOES! No worries about inbreeding, recessive genes, WMS takes care of that. I am milking daughters now which were bred by WMS, I am extremely happy with them. They are a very uniform group, performing well in the herd.'
